We've been here twice in two days, which says something. It's a cute little place off of Silver Lake and 694 in New Brighton. Inside, it's really cool, with dark brown shiny wood, and an actual coffee bar. I had a great vanilla latte and Tim got a freshly squeezed lemonade. We shared an apple fritter and sat outside in the sun. Bru House makes Caribou a distant memory...

Place is awesome. Owners are very nice. I fixed their cable once and I stopped in and they gave me a free coffee. Best cold press around. The breakfast sandwiches are tasty too.

It's a chilly fall day and the hot soup sold out at 12pm, they weren't prepared. I got a turkey club and cold press coffee. The sandwich came with kettle chips and it was pretty good/filling. But the sandwich was dry. It needed more mayo, and the tomatoes were very cold/not ripe enough. Otherwise the atmosphere was hopping and cozy as always. If you dong normal wear sweaters I'd recommend one. The place is small and the cold are makes it a haur chilly. Still dig this joint, will ask for extra mayo next time ^_^

This is a great neighborhood coffee shop. The people are friendly, the atmosphere is comfortable, and they use coffee from the Duluth roaster Alakef. I've tried the baked goods a few times, and they are fresh and tasty. (Doughtnuts seems to be the crowd favorite.) And one thing that makes this place unique for a coffee shop: they actually wipe down the tables so you don't stick to someone else's spill when you sit down.

I frequent The Bru House when in the area. Their coffee seems to be of good quality and they offer an array of espresso drinks (Depth Charge is my go-to). I don't think the place has ever been empty when I've come in, but it never seems to be too loud. I've never had any of the regular food offerings, but I did try some of the muffins and they were pretty good! The Bru House is one of the better coffee shops I've found outside the city limits of Minneapolis, however it is not nearly the same as the city shops. This score is given based on a comparison to all coffee shops, but if you're in the area I would definitely use Bru House to get your caffeine fix. Note: They strongly prefer to only charge orders above $5, so if all you want is a coffee, bring cash or feel a little guilted when swiping your CC.

This place is awesome. New Brightons a nice community and this is a cool neighborhood cafe too. Solid sandwich selection but the drinks are top notch. Cool spot with good drinks (and a cafe bar).

I was staying with a friend, her coffee not the best. I decided on the Bru house as it is independent. I had depth change that was great. I also got a breakfast sandwich. It tasted good until I bit into shell. When I told the person behind the counter she said oh sorry and walked away. As this is a prepay and tip place. Left me feeling a bit cold. I probably won't go back as if I am in the area again there are other coffee shops.

So the coffee and Italians sodas have all been delicious. The sandwiches are all "ok" but nothing special, and could easily be made at home. If the sandwiches were closer to the 5 or 6 dollar mark, I would say it is worth it. But at 9 bucks, I would expect more than regular deli meat on a boring sandwich. It's close to home so I do come here often, but I can't say I've ever been "wowed" by any of the food.

Lattes made by an actual barista, good breakfast sandwiches, great apple fritters and James Taylor music in the background.

Great coffee, pleasant staff, and a cozy setting. When I visit family in the area I always make sure to stop by and grab a pick me up! Much better than a super busy coffee chain. Will keep coming back!

Best Coffee House by Mpls St. Paul Magazine?!! No way! --- Here's a tip for the Princess of the House: French Vanilla= 1/2 shot of vanilla + 1/2 shot of hazelnut. It is not a bunch of extra vanilla syrup... These people don't care about your business. Just go there and you will soon discover that. It just happens to be the only spot in a sea of nothingness. Wait until some good competition moves in close... Soggy croissant microwaved egg sandwich anyone?

Want indifferent service? This is the place. You'll never feel special and never feel like they appreciate your money. Coffee is good. Food is ok.

Good coffee, just don't come here for the baked goods. For me that's half the experience! Scone was dry, crumbly and flavorless. Other choices are what looked like Cub donuts. NE Coffee Shop on Johnson Street is so much better and not much farther.

I went here recently to interview a prospective student for my alma mater. It was a nice, cozy coffee shop, a bit out of my way, but about equi-distant between us, so it worked well for the purpose. The atmosphere was homey and the service was good. We each got the spiced apple cider. It comes with whipped cream and caramel sauce. It's rather sweet, even for cider, but it was definitely good quality. I would go back if I happened to be in the neighborhood again.

I have now been here twice, and both times have been pleased with my food and the service. If you have time to sit at the coffee bar, do it. The coffee is served in a giant mug and it's fun people watching. The second time I came here I was just doing some homework but kept getting distracted by the people who were sitting down next to me ordering delicious looking soup! So obviously, I had to get some. The chicken wild rice and tomato basil were both delicious, and for about 5 dollars is a good price for a bowl of filling soup. Although it's far from where I live, if I am in the area I will make it a point to come here.

Great coffee and the staff is very friendly. I haven't tried the food but it looks very good. My only complaint is I wish it were open past 1pm on Sundays.

My fav. little local coffee shop! Love this place. Of course, they use Alakef coffee which always lays a solid foundation for any good drink. They also have just about every flavor syrup under the sun. But don't let that fool you...they don't serve it up syrupy sweet. They also have a nice little variety of breakfast pastries, snacks, and sandwiches. Great place to just chill & use the free wi-fi.

Love this place. Friendly workers, cozy place to sit down and enjoy a pastry and cup of coffee and the coffee is decent. Prices are below average and the location is convenient. What more can you ask for??

One of the many things that I truly love is having a perfect place to go to work on my computer and enjoy a cup of coffee. The Bru House is that perfect place for me. I have been going to The Bru House since I was in elementary school and still love every part of it. Not only to do love their coffee options, but I also love their Italian Sodas (my favorite is kiwi raspberry). I often don't eat when I'm there, but when I do, there are great soup and sandwich options. The Bru House is also a great place to go when alone or with friends. The staff is also very kind and gives great suggestions about the various menu options. If anyone is in need of a great, quaint coffee shop, choose The Bru House; you will not regret it.

Suburban java joint with overly sweet drinks. If you're a mom who wants a blendy sugar-and-whipped cream type drink, this place is for you. I will say the place is clean and the staff are nice. I don't know, it just has that soccer mom/suburban christian college vibe.

Come forth and receive a creamy, frothy cappuccino, Like wind-capped seas, like vanilla snow drifts Hot as the summer Arizona desert--at the Bru House, With my love-light and joy sharing a coffee and conversation After Sunday church in the neighboring hood.

Chitter chatter, kitchen noises, small cozy building, an array of giant coffees, warm food and WiFi... perfect place to study. Well, that was how I spent every Saturday and Sunday morning when I was in school. I was definitely a regular, but I wasn't the only one. At first, you may feel out of place but it starts to feel like home when they brew your favorite drink the second you walk in the door. (Mine is a large, skim, iced vanilla latte.) Famous for their coffee bar and deli like lunches, Bru House has added breakfast sandwiches to their breakfast menu. (Along side the bakery options.) You can "build your own." And, although they may not have competitive prices, the service and abeyance is worth the cost. My only caution is to watch out for the Sunday morning crowd. It often fills with church goers of all ages and can get a bit loud in the small corner shop. But, its worth it. It feels like an oversized kitchen that we all get to share. Like siblings coming together for breakfast. (Something, as an only child, I never had.) It gives you the warm and fuzzies. I guess the one other caution is to pay attention to the hours... they are not ALWAYS open, but I guess that is the beauty of it. I always recommend this place to those in the area. I will continue to go... with my stack of magazines or my Sunday paper, even if school is now over. Welcome to Bru House... a place to consider your second House. :-)

The Bru House is perhaps the best local coffee shop in the Twin Cities. It is run by a family and the service is great! One of my favorite drinks is the lemonade...it is made from fresh-squeezed lemons! They also have free wi-fi and a great atmosphere.
